My laptop is a little over 5yo and I'm about ready for a new one.
Have used this Dell for the last 15,16 years with no issues but it is starting to act up...Was going to replace a couple years ago but didn't. Now looking to replace with a laptop even tho I would prefer a desktop. Hate trying to navigate on a laptop keyboard so I will probably get a wireless keyboard and mouse, plus a big monitor. My laptop is a little over 5yo and I'm about ready for a new one.
When technology goes past its ability to keep up. As in, too little memory, too slow a processor and so on.My laptop is a little over 5yo and I'm about ready for a new one.
I'm reading where MS has reneged, and is now allowing Win 11 on non-supported hardware. Couple of "how to" videos out there on older hardware. Personally, I'll stay on 10 as long as I can.but Microsoft it will not support the Windows 11 upgrade.
My last one gave out after 10 years. But then I use it for photo editing so it was due for an upgrade anyway.Have used this Dell for the last 15,16 years with no issues but it is starting to act up...Was going to replace a couple years ago but didn't. Damn, after looking up those three pieces of software, my pedal and little Photoshop feels like it should have training wheels. My office desktop is a pretty nice unit. Corsair PC with intel 8th Gen Core i7 CPU and Windows 10. Purchased to run Solidworks and Rhino 3D. I'm using it for National Instruments LabVIEW. Still has many years on it, but Microsoft it will not support the Windows 11 upgrade.
mannnnnnn, I was in this funky little hardware store in Bumstuff southern maryland last night looking for a desktop computer and this guy tried to sell me an endoscopy machine on a rolling cart with a teevee looking monitor and some kinda snake looking thing with a camera on it!!!... what kinda nonsense is that????

I will check out @GURPS software to prevent the updates.
So this past weekend I upgraded to Big Sur, released in 2020. This meant losing some apps that I really liked that were not supported by the new OS AND the websites still don’t work! I despise upgrades! Very seldom do they offer anything of value - only more bloat that slows your computer down. I guess I will try to upgrade to Monterey in the coming weeks to see if it solves the website issues, but as far as my computing power goes, I’m still happy.
I created a VM of Mojave in Parallels to keep those apps.So why not keep what you had, and use a different computer for Internet access ?
