Isn't there some age limits on kids? Don't they need a license or safety class or something when they are under 16

yeah those 10yr olds get 4-wheeler licenses all the time. Clearly they need to be licensed when they are too young!

I know that after several young kids were killed riding, there was talk about ATV size limits based on the kids age and safety training being a requirement to ride. I just can't find the informati.

By the way, thanks for your input:smack:

Best advice I can give....enlist someone who has ridden for years to give great lessons!

My boys starting riding dirtbikes when they were three. Of course, that was totally against what Mommy wanted but they were taught well and are still breathing at 18 and 19.

My son got his 4 wheeler from Santa at 5 1/2, not that the 1/2 makes a difference but I was against it but daddy always goes with him and it has adjustable speed that daddy can change and he can only go a certain speed. Also he stays on personal property! He has helmet, chest pads and the full gear on, including bug spray

No license is required to ride on private property. Don't know about the roads though. I was operating heavy farm machinery when I was 14 and driving trucks around farms since I was 12.

...the problem with 4 wheelers is it is very easy to get started as it requires little understanding or skill to get them moving; press the gas, BUT then you VERY quickly need motorcycle skills and the UNDERSTANDING of motorcycle skills, balance, top heavy, throttle control, leaning into turns, once you get up any speed and start dealing with turns and anticipation.

Just to make it even more fun, many four wheelers (every one I've ever ridden) has a brake lever where motorcycles have a clutch, left handlebar. I would guess this has contributed to a great many accidents for people used to one and new to the other.

As for the actual question, they say on them do NOT operate if you are under 16.

Sorry, I figured a stupid question deserved a stupid answer.

Typing "ATV restrictions Maryland" into google got me this link (among others...note, this is just public, since private doesn't matter worth a crap): Public Lands: Off-Road Vehicle Use on Public Lands

It just seemed so easy to me that posting here appeared to be a waste of everyone's time. I thought I'd return the favor.

I found the reguations but everything I saw was about State lands. No need for you to worry about me wasting anyones time on here; that's what this site is for. No need to waste your time typing a reply either.
