How people view traffic behavior poll.....

Poll will be up shortly. Simply put, how do you view people who, while acting within the law, inconvenience others to better their own position. Examples

Staying in a temporary merge lane (construction/crash zone) far past the point of being told a lane is ending, even when offered a spot, becuase they can gain a few car lengths.

People who hold up a lot of people behind them waiting for a shot at an unreasonable turn. say the WaWa on 235 across three lanes to buck Hewitts light.

Traveling in a designated turn lane, which inconveniences those waiting to use it to enter traffic

Left lane hogs who stay there simply because they don't want to be bothered with entering/exiting traffic, or will take that left, somewhere in the next five miles......

We all know there are times these things cannot be avoided, but we all also know there are people who claim "Screw it, it's legal, I dont care what effect it has on those around me" and do it every time.

People are people and for the most part are going to do what is in their best interest. I think this is especially true when you're talking about the issue of traffic and around here (SOMD) when folks are mostly set on getting to/from work. Blinders on, full speed ahead.
For me, I do not consider the left lane of GMR to be a passing lane so if that is where I fall into the pattern, I'll stay there. This is especially true if I'm on my bike and want to avoid the manhole covers in the right lane of east bound traffic. Going west on GMR, you have to be in the left lane to turn right onto 5N unless you want to get jammed up in the merging traffic of the folks who rush up to turn in the right lane and then squeeze themselves in.
On 235 north the same holds true (for me) until I get to the light at Hollywood/Leonardtown road. Once past there, I'll be in the right lane unless I'm passing.

I blew the poll part. On a related note, the number of characters alllowed for the poll question is ridiculously small. I could not find a way to ask the question in that amount of space.

GMR really doesn't have a passing lane, I agree.

I live behind Wawa, and cross 235 to that turn lane to make the U-turn to head to Pax. If people are going to go North on 235, they should use the other exit with the merge lane. Also, people should NOT try to cross those 3 lanes during busy times of day. When it's busy, I go down to the next stop light, and either make a u-turn there, or whip into the side street, and wait for the left turn signal. The problem is not the crossing 235, the problem is, people do not think about what they are doing. There is almost ALWAYS another way to do things, we just need to use "situational awareness".
