CIUDAD HIDALGO, Mexico (Reuters) - Central American migrants eager to beat a crackdown by Mexico on its southern border with Guatemala scrambled into the country on Thursday as the government prepared to send thousands of National Guard members to plug gaps in the porous frontier.

Of course, the ignorati types will someone blame Mexico for this and completely absolve Donald Trump's (the incompetent one) policies, pronouncement and tweets for having anything to do with the rush to the border we have seen over the past year!

This is just a stupid thread. Of course the attempts to flee their country and illegally enter the US would spike ahead of a border crackdown. Human nature. Announce a gas tax increase and what happens? People will rush to fill up a few days ahead of the increase. The key phrase is "ahead of a crackdown." What other administration has gotten an agreement out of Mexico to even try to increase their southern border security? Not any of the recent previous administrations. Now, will Mexico keep their end of the bargain? Will it work? Those are valid questions that will only be answered in time. But criticizing the agreement over a temporary influx of migrants prior to the crackdown is asinine.
