If they spent half the energy on fixing real problems that they did on Trump we would be in great shape as a country and increasing minimum wage will not help anyone, especially those making minimum wage. That is just a ploy to get votes from the low income workers who don't understand economics.

True and that's who his base is. His base didn't vote for Trump, hell we barely have a republican governor in MD.
St. Mary's and Calvert Counties might as well stay home on election day for all it matters in Maryland.

I still vote, but agree, he's a fraud. Not sure if gerrymandering is the only reason. While republicans may be the majority in Calvert and St. Mary's, they aren't that big of a majority and to some people, Steny, regardless of party is a good ole boy.

I have a theory or more like an explanation on why it's so hard to kick an incumbent out.
In a life in a galaxy far away in a time long past I found myself being screwed by a certain federal agency. It was internal politics, but I just wanted my money. So I had to go to the local office of my congressman to get them to intervene. When a member of congress asks a question, bureaucrats take notice. He may not have done anything, but someone on his staff, using his name made a call and suddenly the situation was resolved.
Likewise when people want say a flag for a deceased relative that served, the congressional office will help them obtain one.
It's those "favors" that people remember more than the voting record and their politics.

So while we all say THEY need to be voted out of office, what we end up meaning is THEY, EXCEPT MINE, need to be voted out.

We don't need term limits, we need voters to pull their heads out of their arse and get out and vote, don't just vote because you think the guy did you a favor, vote on what they have done for the country, for your state and district.

In the case of the House, they are the voice of the people, the popular vote. They should represent the wishes of the people who put them in office, not a political party. Hoyer has taken credit for being the savior of Pax River. Yet he votes in lock step with a party that has typically been against defense spending, a party that would like to see defense spending cut and money transferred to domestic giveaway programs.

He votes to increase taxes on everyone, he supports the rights of the unions to take your money and to buy elections.

But he's a good ole boy, so we will keep him.
