Our office down here in Piney Point was just rocked by a huge explosion of some kind. Not the usual rumbling from Dahlgren that rattles the big metal shop doors on regular occasion...this was something much larger. I actually heard cracking noise in the structure of our building as it was shaken.

Wonder what the heck they are blowing up up there ?
And the noise is one thing..but the shock wave is really impressive!

  • Noise on Station: Potential to create "Very Loud" noise in the northern "C" gate and southern (Building 101) areas of NSF Dahlgren.
  • Noise Down Range: Potential to create "Very Loud" noise down range and in communities surrounding NSF Dahlgren.
  • River Restrictions: Restricted approximately 15,000 yards down range from NSF Dahlgren below the yellow "M" buoy (Maryland) and to the yellow "L" buoy (Virginia).

I'm bett'in it was the super duper, on steroids, top secret, rail gun modification test. Yup. that's a what'a I'm a think'in.
