Hey all you Race Fans, stop fantasizing, get off the couch and head a short distance west to see two great forms of racing at two separate venues.

A multi-race weekend is just a short scenic drive away. Enough fun to make even the most addicted track addict overdose. The ride out west to the beautiful Shenandoah valley region to see the leaves changing to their Fall colors is worth the trip itself. However, you’ll not want to miss watching the on-track racing action at either of these exciting events at Winchester Speedway and Summit Point Motorsports Park that are conveniently located approximately fifteen miles apart. One has Day racing on a road course and the other has night racing on a clay oval.

Season finale SCCA MARRS 13 Formula Fest Presented by Radial Tire will be held at Summit Point Oct 5-6 Saturday and Sunday.

We are closing the season in a big way with the MARRS 13 Season Championship grand finale complete with car shows, Formula Fest bonus races, and free spectator entry. Summit Point is hosting a Cars and Coffee car show by Country Roads Car Club that will include two car corrals. There will be cars for show and cars that go, one of the car corrals will be for some of the SCCA cars to be on display between race sessions. Black Dog Coffee will have coffee and food available in the car show area.

NO entry fee all weekend for all spectators - free at the gate! Plus, $5 for Parade Laps around the track during the lunch break—you get to drive your car on one of the nation’s more challenging road race tracks.

Camping at Summit Point is sometimes free and “food” and refreshments are available at the Chez Summit Concession stand if you’re not in the mood to bring a cooler.

This particular weekend of Saturday/Sunday (Day) racing just happens to also coincide with a big racing event weekend (Evenings) at Winchester Speedway—about 15 miles to the Southwest in the heart of Winchester Virginia. (also a pleasant historic town and place to stay with plenty of hotels)

The racing at Winchester will include entrants that live in our Southern Maryland region and race at our own hometown track at Potomac Speedway.

Look for me at one of the corners at Summit Point on Saturday and Sunday—I’ll be wearing white and holding (sometimes displaying/sometimes waving) a brightly colored flag. Perhaps I could even interest you in joining me on the inside of the fence to feel what its like to flag and work as a corner marshal at a road racing event. The extremely close to the action trackside view alone is worth trying it out. Come see what its all about and maybe you too will become an SCCA Flagger next season. If interested—or know someone that might be, come talk to one of us during lunch or after the races are over.
