[ROOT][SECURITY] Root exploit on Exynos - xda-developers
The good news is we can easily obtain root on these devices and the bad is there is no control over it.

We’ve been covering the Exyons chip root exploit since it first appeared a few days ago. The vulnerability allows for phones using the affected Exyons chips to be rooted using a simple apk file, meaning that malicious software can easily gain unlimited access to your system. Today a Samsung spokesman provided the first official statement on the issue to the folks at Android Central.
“Samsung is aware of the potential security issue related to the Exynos processor and plans to provide a software update to address it as quickly as possible.
The issue may arise only when a malicious application is operated on the affected devices; however, this does not affect most devices operating credible and authenticated applications.
Samsung will continue to closely monitor the situation until the software fix has been made available to all affected mobile devices.”
Given that vulnerability affects a range of very popular Samsung handsets, including the Galaxy S2, S3, and Note 2, let us hope they come up with an official fix soon. Until then, if you’re worried about the possible exploit there’s already a community made fix available, courtesy of some folks over at XDA developers.
