Hughes (aka Direcway)

Direcway, the Satellite Internet Service folks, are now being assimilated by the Borg (Hughes) their parent company. No biggie except that for those of us using their stuff for business purposes, the e-mail address changes to XXX.XXX@hughes.net Not real good for government contractors who are not Hughes employees. When I called with my problem, their answer was (in a nice way), "Oh, well - your tough luck." I convinced the New Delhi-based Help Desk to send the problem up the line (hopefully to Germantown, MD where those responsible for this mess actually work). I don't expect satisfaction so I'm working on setting up an account elsewhere with an auto-forward to my Hughes account. This is all very frustrating. I've looked into buying other systems and services instead, but found nothing as fast within my price range. :banghead:

I have a Yahoo addy, and I'm not a Yahoo employee. I also have a Hotmail account, and I don't work for them, either.

The difference is that Hughes is a large supplier to the Government and they have many contracts, some with NAVAIR. I support NAVAIR, ergo the confusion that could occur. Yahoo and others are well-recognized for general e-mail service, but not Hughes.

Every heard of Wildblue? They are another internet provider that has cheaper pricing and plans.

Register your own domain name and get business email that way. It's not very expensive.

Oz, thank you for the advice! That's exactly what I did (I also went for the whole package and will have to plan my web site soon). I'm waiting for them to turn on the account (48 hours, they said).
