Human Skull Found Near Catholic University

WASHINGTON - Police in the District are trying to find out more about the discovery of a skull in Northeast.

Detectives say the human head was found by a homeless man and tossed it into a dumpster by a convenience store in a shopping center at the corner of Taylor Street and Hawaii Avenue. The shopping center is across from Catholic University's athletic field.

Before throwing the partially-decomposed head with a baseball cap on it away, the man apparently showed the head to other people.

Witnesses retrieved it and called police.

WTOP reported at 3:30 that it was headless and they found some rope and think it's a suicide.

I'd speculate that he hung there and decomposed before the head and neck detached.....

Not to overstate the obvious, but there's more than a little bit of mental illness among the homeless. That could have something to do with it.

I got my news from the guy standing around the dumpster in the Fox 5 video aired yesterday. I think he told me they thought he'd been there 4-5 months. :shrug:
