The De La Brooke Foxhounds hunt club’s fall Hunter Pace is October 9 at Chaptico Wharf Farm. Registration opens at 9 am with riders out from 10 am to 12 noon. The 8 mile course winds through the historic countryside and features 20 optional jumps.

The optimum time for the ride is a mix of walk, trot and canter with brief rests. The hunter pace time will be set by De La Brooke Foxhounds huntsman, Casey Copsey, and his staff. Competitors can either jump the course or ride on the flat. This is not an individual ride, but competed in teams of two to four riders.

Refreshments will be for sale and the entry fee is $40 per adult and $20 per junior. Awards are saddle pads and Southern States feed. There will be winners first through third place for the optimum time along with prizes to the best team name, best turned out, best horse of the day, best behaved junior, best helper, best spectator and worst behaved adult.

Entries must provide a negative Coggins test document and riders must wear English riding helmets, polo shirts or other suitable hunt shirt, riding pants and boots.

The event is held rain or shine and is located at 36190 Olde Chaptico Wharf Road, Chaptico, Maryland. The prize list is available at the website, Home_page along with a waiver that must be signed by all riders and/or their guardian as appropriate.
