I’m not seeing how this is a good idea

When I first saw this, I imagined the entire plane being bugged with surveillance devices. I might reject it solely on that, or accept it and strip it down for the tech used.

That's what I was thinking, an intentional loose bolt.

OPSEC typically used two identical aircraft, with only one this also takes away one layer of security.

And now "we owe them one"

I’ve yet to see any reasonable explanation, just a couple of trust Trumps. I’m beginning to feel that’s all anyone is going to have.

I don't foresee this happening. The amount of time and money to get that jet to meet security, communications, self defense, and hardening requirements will put its in service date beyond the current fiasco of VC-25B's. Plus, flight and maintenance crew training/qualifications, spare parts, and support equipment to support it. At least the hanger for the -8's is built and operational; nice state of the art facility. I think this is more a dig at Boeing to their $h!t together.

After Iran, Qatar is the major sponsor of Islamic terrorism. Most of these pro-Hamas protests on college campuses are funded with Qatari money.

Wait, is that true?

I'll fess up, I just threw that comment out there, I don't really know anything about Qatar.

But I'm not prepared to jump on Trump just yet. The reason is because he does a number of things that seem crazy, then it turns out he has a perfectly good reason and that crazy thing was actually brilliant. I can cite roughly 1,423,962 instances.

Anyway, the pressbots are whining that it's a personal gift to Trump, which it isn't - it's a gift to the US. Trump can't take the plane with him when he goes. He'll probably say he can just to spin the droids up, which is always fun.

But that's the main problem with all the Trump hysteria - our news media and the Democrats are the boy who cried wolf. And over the stupidest things. So right now Trump could join Hamas and bomb the Empire State building, and more than half the country wouldn't believe it because they've lied to us so many times. I wouldn't trust a single word that came out of a Democrat mouth, or the MSM. That's what happens when you're a compulsive and blatant liar.

🤷‍♀️

I'm doing a deep dive into news media malfeasance and yellow journalism throughout history, and they've always been a pack of rabid hyenas.

FUN FACT: Joseph Pulitzer is the father of yellow journalism. He is also the father of the Pulitzer Prize* AND founded Columbia School of Journalism. Hearst gets busted on for ushering in lurid headlines and sensational stories, but he was merely responding to Pulitzer and trying to compete with him. Pulitzer was actually the one who realized that this sort of thing sells.

* This explains why the Pulitzer is a joke and so many awards are given for false reporting and made up stories.

I suspect him agreeing to this is sort of like me telling somebody on Facebook marketplace that I'd like to buy it but I got to check with my wife. In this case the security apparatus and the timelines to retrofit would be the wife making the deal impossible. It's not that he doesn't want to. He just can't you understand it allows everybody to save face

Well, what if he personally didn't use it? Or any of his staff? Then it would be no different than AOC taking a commercial airliner. Make it available for rent/charter.

The best bet with Trump is to wait and see before forming an opinion. Whatever the newsbots fling out there is usually a flat out lie or at least not the whole story - Trump loves ginning them up so they end up looking like buffoons. It appears to be his favorite hobby. Like Lucy pulling the football away and Charlie Brown falling for it every. single. time.

I trust Qatar before I trust Boeing.
It's a Boeing aircraft. A 747. If it's free, why not? Just give itto the Air Force to have the mods done. Only problem is, from what I've seen and read, it's otften more expensive to modify an existing aircraft to AF1 standards than it is to just build one to AF1 standards from scratch. That cost would be offset by the fact that the aircraft is free.
