I am stupid and being punished for it

So just before Christmas I was on the intardnet and I went to Best Buy's website to check out a laptop. When the web page loaded it came up with a survey, complete with Best Buy logos, colors, and the url had "Best Buy" in it. I already have a Best Buy account and all that mumbo jumbo that so I figured what the hell, I will do it.

When I got close to the end of entering my information I get a screen that says "By clicking accept you agree to being a subscriber to a direct marketing blah blah and agree to a $6.99 monthly charge to your phone bill." So I click No, and exit.

Within minutes I began to receive a barrage of emails for everything from ass cream to zippo lighters. I even got a couple txts and the next day a call from a person who said because I signed up they could offer me a mortgage.

I am talking a couple hundred emails over the last 2 weeks. I called my cell provider and they show no subscription or fee charged to my phone. I have clicked "unsubscribe" on every email that comes in and now I am getting them with no "unsubscribe" link.

I went to Best Buy's web site and went typed a nasty email to their customer service but it wont send, it just hangs up.

I think I will try to find out the president of Best Buy's email address and send him 10,000 pictures of my ass in retaliation.

Well it wasn't some fly by night run of the mill email solicitation, it was Best Buy. and on their own website. I figured it was their own survey.

Most CEO's don't put their email address in their SEC filings, so I can't help you there.

Sounds like your computer is inffected with spyware or maleware. Believe it or not Best Buy might not have anything to do with your problem so I wouldn't waste my time with an email. These infections will send bogus URL links that mimick sites like Microsoft or BestBuy and they go after sensitive information such as account numbers or credit card numbers. You need to scan your computer with either Norton or Macafee, if you haven't done so already.

I bought a computer system from them some months ago. As the saleman was typing in my info without thinking I gave him my email address. They didn't attempt to charge me for it but I also started getting all those emails. It took about two months before they dried up.

I have an account online, a Best Buy credit card and just spent over $3,000 this year but all that is going to change. This is why; I logged onto Bestbuy.com to check the availability of a laptop a couple weeks ago and was presented a web page with Best Buy logo's which asked me to participate in a survey. Since it was Best Buy I assumed it was a legitimate survey of customers with an entry into a gift card drawing as a hook. As it turns out it was a direct marketing company that wanted to charge me $6.99 a month to my phone bill. When I discovered this I clicked "skip" and did not accept anything or submit my survey. None the less they now have my email and phone number. Within 5 minutes of filling out the form I have been absolutely barraged with spam emails for everything from diabetic warnings to credit scores. Over 100 in the last several days. I also have received several text messages and even a phone call from someone who said he was from the Direct Marketing solutions that I signed up for online.
This is completely unacceptable behavior from any retailer. To partner with or allow your brand and logos to be used to lure in people to be completely and utterly spammed like that is abhorrent.
Unless this stops IMMEDIATELY I will pay off my Best Buy account, cancel the account and never, ever, set foot in one of your stores again nor will I ever order anything online. If it continues I may even inquire with my attorney as to possible legal action since I did not click "submit" or "accept" and exited as soon as I discovered what it really was. Well probably not but I wouldn’t feel I had expressed my outrage enough unless I threatened to sue, it is America after all.
Basically for 2 weeks and counting I have been under cyber assault from every jackass email angle a sane person can imagine all because I believed it was a "Best Buy" survey.
I attempted to contact Best Buy customer service on their web based email form but it will not accept the email and just hangs up.
I am beyond angry that every 10 minutes my email is jammed and my smart phone is going off alerting me to some insane scam about re-fi rates, diabetic supplies, hemorrhoid cream, special holiday promotion for 3 free months of HBO, that I have $1500 loan on hold for me at the attractive interest rate of 29.99%, a chance for a $50,000 home make over and the list goes on. It is not that I am not appreciative, however I do not need to re-fi my mortgage, I am not diabetic, my anus is not inflamed (This spamming might have inflamed it but I doubt the cream they are asking me to try would remedy that), I already have HBO, 29.99% interest rate is not attractive, I could use a $50,000 home make over but I am sure there is a catch. I suppose there is a bright side, they haven’t insulted my penis size by offering me any male enlargement products. FYI, If they did I wouldn’t want that either because I am quite comfortable with mine.
I hope to hear something soon with an explanation and a remedy.

P.S. OK, the hemorrhoid cream part was an exaggeration, I didn’t get an email for that.

Well I have AVG, it is up to date and it runs a scan once a week and never alerted.
