Go to Google-type in "stingray"-click on image. Same for "skate".

Rays and skates are similar species that are closely related to sharks. Most rays are kite-shaped with streamlined tails that may have one or more poisonous barbs or spines. In contrast, skate tails are fleshier and heavier, and have small fins. Size is another way to differentiate rays from their skate cousins. Rays can grow to tremendously large sizes.
Tell ya what, you don't wanna git stung by no Stingray-I hear tell the wound never heals!

BTW-what's for lunch? :coffee:

Go catch a skate, cut the wings off and skin them. Cut the meat from the wings and deep fry, pan fry, broil or grill, SUPPOSEDLY it tastes just like scallops.

Good info. The bay has cow nose rays and clear nose skates. The clear nose are much smaller and stay on the bottom. The cow nose are often seen swimming on the surface. Also I can definitely report that the wounds from a ray heal and hurt like hell. :yay:

I did try the skate wings once, they were nasty. I might have mishandled the cleaning though. I think you need to be carefull not to let the slime from the skin get on the meat. I think the best recipe is the one posted for carp in this forum. :lmao:
