I don't know if this is true, but it should be

Trey Gowdy , South Carolina Congressman, recently responded to a reporter about the military in response to a question from a CNN reporter about the DoD ban of transgenders from joining the U.S. armed forces. As Trey typically does so very well, he nailed it rather succinctly.

Question: How can President Trump claim to represent all U.S citizens, regardless of sexual orientation, when he banned transgenders from joining the military? Isn't that discrimination?

Trey Gowdy's Response: " Nobody has a right to serve in the Military. Nobody! What makes you people think the Military is an equal opportunity employer? It is very far from it - and for good reasons - let me cite a few."

"The Military uses prejudice regularly and consistently to deny citizens from joining for being too old or too young, too fat or too skinny, too tall or too short. Citizens are denied for having flat feet, or for missing or additional fingers." he went on to explain: "By the way, poor eyesight will disqualify you, as well as bad teeth.

Malnourished? Drug addiction? Bad back? Criminal history? Low IQ? Anxiety? Phobias? Hearing damage? Six arms? Hear voices in your head? Self-identification as a Unicorn? Need a special access ramp for your wheelchair?"

"Can't run the required course in the required time? Can't do the required number of push-ups? Not really a morning person? and refuse to get out of bed before noon? All can be legitimate reasons for denial"

"The Military has one job: Winning War. Anything else is a distraction and a liability. Did someone just scream? That isn't Fair? War is VERY unfair, there are no exceptions made for being special or challenged or socially wonderful"

"YOU must change yourself to meet Military standards and not the other way around."

"I say again: You don't change the Military - you must change yourself. The Military is not about being fair, it is about taking advantage of others and about winning.
The Military doesn't need to accommodate anyone with special issues. The Military needs to Win Wars and keep our Country safe - PERIOD!"

"If any of your personal issues are a liability that detract from readiness or lethality... Thank you for applying and good luck in future endeavors."

"...any other questions?"

Lots of folks join just for the dental work. Plenty of recruits in the all volunteer era have jacked up teeth that would cost a fortune to correct.

I should clarify that what I don't know is if Trey Gowdy actually said that. It was a meme I saw on FB.

Have a nice day!

I have seen the same story attributed to Gowdy and a few others (Mike Rowe for one) but it makes a great statement. The first time I saw it I got thinking. Many things in life have requirements that not everyone meets but that doesn't mean the requirements are wrong or need to change. If you want to be a bomb disposal expert you cannot be color blind. You need to be able to cut the BLUE wire! Think about blind people. If you want to drive a car you can't be blind. You need to be able to see the protester in the street and aim properly. If you want to be a gynecologist you better have good olifactory senses or you might become a proctologist. You might also accidently go in the fish market on your way to work. You could be a Rabbi but don't even think of performing a bris. On the upside you can be a democrat or a socialist regardless of lack of intelligence, common sense or moral compass. Maybe that is why they want requirements for some things removed. They wouldn't be qualified.

I don’t know whether it’s accurate or not, but having listened to Trey Gowdy over the years, I can actually hear his voice rattling that dialogue off like a natural breath.

If it isn’t him, whoever it was was channeling him.

So true. FB is a sewer of misinformation, most of it goes unchecked, especially left leaning, marxist stuff.

The SMNN facebook page is comical in the comment section. One half ot more reads like this forum, the remaining has the police acting like Elmer Fudd, falsly arresting or blasting away at anybody non caucasian.

I don't believe it for one basic reason. No combative reporter (one asking a question they believe you to be on the wrong side of) would allow you to continue that entire thought uninterrupted.

Yeah, the CNN "reporter" would have interrupted him after the first sentence and derailed the whole line of thought. But it's still a good argument no matter who came up with it.

It couldn't be corroborated back in 2017 when allegedly it was made and it still can't be corroborated.
