...I'm an F1 fan, but I have a question. What's with this all star race. Do they have scheduled breaks during the race?

Yes, just this one. Unless there is a race where all the practices and qualifying get rained out then they have a "competition yellow".

So like the Pro Bowl, this whole thing is just about the organization making money and no one is trying to hard.

Oh, they are trying to win, there's A LOT of money at stake for the winner. Some us it as an extended practice session for next week's 600 miler. If they weren't trying to win then you'd see all of them come in to get 4 fresh tires as opposed to 2 and/or no stop at all.

Unlike the Pro Bowl, the intensity goes up in the All Star race.

All the cars they bring to race are disposable. There's a lot of money at stake. And no points to lose. That brings out the "wild thing" in all the drivers. Some of the most exciting moments in NASCAR have taken place in the All Star Race.
