I drove the Green Hell (Nurburgring/Nordschleife)!

I drove the Nurburgring yesterday. What a track! It is very narrow and has a whole lot of elevation change. I almost ran off track on one occasion, but corrected and was back on my way, but a little slower. I wish I had more time to learn the track and have my personal car on track. With the track being 13 miles long and over 100 corners I would need a while. The ride along I had was very good too as I rode in a M5 with a driver that has an international comp license and has raced a the 24hour ring race a few times. We accelerated up to 160 mph at some places, which is very impressve in a pure street car on such a track where brakes are usually the limiting factor. I had an great time with a group of awsome motorports enthusiasts. I strongly recommend a visit to "The Green Hell" when in Germany :yay:

The Nordschleife? I'm truly jealous.

Please remember that most of those reading your post are boy-racers who drive Neons and WRXs with lots of loud but not so much fast.

Drifters can't clean the chicanes. A good car, with neutral steering and throttle-on oversteer can carve that course up. Such as your M5 or a 911.

Yup, the Nordschleife.
I too drive a loud Impreza, but it is track/time trial preppared and has accumulated a lot of miles at VIR and Summit Point. It does not compare to the M5 (500h.p.) I rode in. I was amazed that the M5 was on street tires and street brakes. Still the brakes were cooking after a lap, but held up well. My friend Franjo is quite the driver too, which made the ride along very exciting. I only piloted a small car which was good for me, even considering my experience, it kept me humble. I am glad that I got my track time in early as a very bad accident occured that red flagged the track for a while.
