If I'm reading the guidelines correctly, we'll be getting ours in May. Luckily we aren't dumb with our money and my 20% pay cut hasn't affected us too much. Not eating out and only putting gas in 1 car instead of 3 has offset those expenditures.

Ditto ... my tax deductions - aka wife and kid pay off again
I am hoping since my 19 year old filed his own taxes that he got his own check. Otherwise, he must have slipped through the cracks. Apparently a lot of college students did. :ohwell:

If you aren't claiming him as a dependent, he should get a check.

My child didn't - I thought I had read over the age of 16 but don't hold me to that. It kinda sucks because I still pay over 50% of his support and it would have helped. Not complaining though - every little bit helps.
Oh well. Mine must still be doing his school work as I sent him a text to check his bank account and he hasn't responded back yet. I will hear back from him eventually.

From the article: "The parents of college-aged students also do not receive the $500 credit in the stimulus plan, as that only applies to children 16 and younger."
That is BULLshit. My 17 year old still lives at home, is still in high school, is still dependent on us and cannot vote but he doesn't qualify? WTF kind of arbitrary government ruling is this? Yes. We do claim him as a dependent on our taxes.

I hope I'm translating wrong and that for both of you he receives something. My son gets SSI disability at a little over $700 a month. He can't support himself on that, he is incapable of living on his own, and the money he receives certainly helps support him but I still provide well over 50%, It seems odd to me that he's not eligible but again I'm appreciative that we got anything. Maybe it balances out with me being able to claim him as a dependent or something. Who knows? The government moves in mysterious ways.
No worries. He makes plenty from his job and it's all pure profit to him because he only pays for his books for college. His bank account doesn't need any more fattening up. We pay his tuition/car insurance/etc.

This article is a little better. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/f...icans-wont-get-coronavirus-checks/ar-BB12drE8

From the article:

If someone else claims you as a dependent on their taxes, you won't get your own check. Parents will get an extra $500 payment per child, but that's only for kids under 17.

Most 17-year-olds, some young adults and many of the country's roughly 20 million college students are claimed by their parents as dependents. They won't get checks, and their parents won't get an extra $500.

Most 17 year olds. I wonder what that means? If most but not all, does that mean that some 17 year olds qualify? Who and why?
Guess if you are 17 and not claimed by a parent, you might get one??? Who knows.

I really don't think so. I just read your post on how much you still provide for your college son - and it sucks that you don't get, along with everyone else who doesn't get (including me) an extra $500. You're still laying out that money regardless. You're still employed and receiving a check (not to slight you - happy for you that you're essential and still receiving everything you earned) but for those that aren't still gainfully employed and receiving a steady check or living off unemployment - it ain't easy. I'm still receiving everything I was receiving before this thing took over our lives so I'm gaining. I guess I just want more. Who doesn't?

I don't know if I stated that right or not - absolutely no insult intended - I think you're just as entitled to it as those that lost their jobs. Did I explain that okay?
I understand and agree that it sucks for those affected by all of this. I am happy that my husband and I are still working. This money will most certainly go to help pay in the restoration of my husband's Cyclone so it isn't like we get to spend it on something "fun". Well, husband gets to spend it on something fun.

I got notified a couple of days ago via TurboTax that my 2018 tax return had been accessed. Today the stimulus money is in my account, but PNC online banking is having major issues.

PNC isn't the only bank having problems today.
