Genesis 25:1 Abraham had taken another wife, whose name was Keturah. 2 She bore him Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak and Shuah. 3 Jokshan was the father of Sheba and Dedan; the descendants of Dedan were the Ashurites, the Letushites and the Leummites. 4 The sons of Midian were Ephah, Epher, Hanok, Abida and Eldaah. All these were descendants of Keturah.
5 Abraham left everything he owned to Isaac. 6 But while he was still living, he gave gifts to the sons of his concubines and sent them away from his son Isaac to the land of the east.
7 Abraham lived a hundred and seventy-five years. 8 Then Abraham breathed his last and died at a good old age, an old man and full of years; and he was gathered to his people. 9 His sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah near Mamre, in the field of Ephron son of Zohar the Hittite, 10 the field Abraham had bought from the Hittites. There Abraham was buried with his wife Sarah. 11 After Abraham’s death, God blessed his son Isaac, who then lived near Beer Lahai Roi.
Here's this morning's link to the commentary I use.

After yesterday's long, yet almost unbelievable story of how Rebekah [Isaac's wife] came along, I figured we could use just a few verses today. Besides... Abraham's burial and distribution of property is important.

Look... Abraham took another wife... nope... not Hagar... This wife's name was Keturah. She was the mother of the tribes named in verses 3&4. Abraham wasn't too old to have a whole new family, I guess.

Abraham was 175 years old.

It must have been good for the family to see Isaac and Ishmael put their differences aside for the funeral. After all, it would have been a huge crowd and if the boys were fighting... it could have turned into a war. I'm glad they came together to say goodbye to dad.

He was buried next to his beautiful wife, Sarah. She was buried in the only land Abraham ever purchased. It's good that he got back to join her there.

Check out verse 6. Abraham knew he was dying so, while he was still alive, he gifted the sons of his concubines. That would include Ishmael, I guess. Abraham didn't leave him completely without. Abraham must have given Ishmael riches before he passed. I'm sure the cattle, sheep, goats, and camels were divided.

The reading of the will would have been quick and easy. Isaac got everything Abraham left behind.

I hate funerals....

Abraham's funeral would have been a big deal. I bet people had to travel from far and wide to say goodbye to Abram turned Abraham.

Abraham would be forever remembered as the guy who let his wife send away his firstborn, when his wife got pregnant with her own baby.

Abraham would be forever remembered as the psycho who nearly sacrificed his own son.

Abraham would be forever remembered as the "father" of the Jewish and Christian Nations.

I hate funerals....
