This story has NOTHING to do with the crime, but they choose to slander the mother, just in case.

Mom in Microwave Baby Case Has Record
By JAMES HANNAH
Associated Press Writer

DAYTON, Ohio — A woman authorities suspect of killing her month-old daughter by putting her in a microwave oven has previously been convicted of abduction and forgery, court records show.

China Arnold, 26, is charged with aggravated murder in the Aug. 30, 2005, death of her daughter, Paris Talley. She was arrested Monday.

The baby had high-heat internal injuries, but no external burn marks, said Ken Betz, director of the Montgomery County coroner's office.

Arnold was convicted of abducting a 72-year-old woman in 2000, according to records in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court. The elderly woman said Arnold approached her in a mall parking lot, said she had a gun, and forced her to drive Arnold downtown. The woman said Arnold asked for her purse, according to a Miami Township police report.

Arnold told police she had no gun, denied that she asked for the woman's purse, and said she was simply trying to scare the woman into giving her a ride home. She said she told the woman she wasn't going to hurt her and eventually showed her that the "gun" was a bottle of lotion inside a glove.

She was also convicted of forgery in 2002. In each case, she was sentenced to five years of probation.

Defense attorney Jon Paul Rion said Arnold's previous convictions have no connection to the current allegations. "Her past acts — none of them involved violence. No one was hurt," Rion said.

He said Arnold is now in a state of shock, and had nothing to do with her daughter's death.

The night before the baby died, Paris was being watched by her paternal aunt. The baby's father, Terrell Talley, said his daughter was fine when he and Arnold arrived home.

The next morning, Talley said he woke up and found the baby had a bruise on her face and was cold and stiff.

The couple rushed the baby to the hospital, Rion said. He said Arnold told hospital officials she didn't know what had happened to the child.

I disagree that the priors have nothing to do with what's going on now. It shows a pattern of stupid behavior and criminal tendencies.

I mean, really, when was the last time you accosted an old woman at the mall and forced her at gunpoint (or lotion-point, whatever) to drive you somewhere?

But I do agree that the media should stop trying to make news and embellish their already revolting stories.

They do not! I resent that!

In print, it's libel.

And which part is untrue? This woman sounds like a real piece of work - and I made that judgement after I read the sentence containing the words "killing", "daughter" and "microwave".

The rest is just a demostration of previous behavior, and most likely a matter of public record.

Did I just defend the media? I'm feeling sick :barf:

On Mythbusters, they tested a roast to show how a microwave cooks. After 10-15 minutes on High, the roast had started to cook on the outside, but was still RAW on the inside.
which seems to be the opposite of what they are alleging with the baby in the story

The only problem with that episode is they didnt test it on a LIVING object and instead just used a piece of meat. The microwaves will scald anything and since our bodies are so weak (especially a baby with all their fat) it wouldn't take much to destroy an internal organ or burn something on the inside. Go home and take a piece of fat and a chunk of meat and throw it in the microwave. The fat will melt before any apparent damage is doen to the meat.

Rather she's a piece of sh!t or not has nothing to do with the murder of her daughter.

I'm quite sure you've broken your share of laws, does that make you a heinous murderer?

Her punishment should be an adult-sized microwave for about 10 minutes on high. How sad for a little 1 month old baby girl who never really had a chance to even get a good start on life.
