I have a dumb question

Before going to bed I open my cabinet doors under sinks too. Better safe than sorry.
I do that too. Because many years back, probably the 80's the pipes under sink did freeze once. It was one heck of a cold spell we had, daytime temps barely got to 20, and nightime went to about 0 for about 4-5 days.

Back in the 90s we had a severe cold spell and nobody was living in the older house on my property. Thought I'd be clever and let the kitchen faucet drip to prevent pipes freezing..it had happened before back in the 80s. At some point I entered the house to check it out...and the kitchen was a solid sheet of ice, originating from the kitchen sink and covering most of the kitchen floor!...

Sink stopped up and overflowed?
