I have a question.

I have two nearly identicle laptops. One has a video problem so it doesn't display anything. Probably the motherboard. One is fine. Can I stick my disk drive in the good one and move my files to an external drive? Or is it going to give me a hard time?

If they are the same model, no prob. Just switch the drives. If there are minor differences, like a different video or audio card, you can fix that post-fact. Worst case scenario will be a BSOD due to some incompatible hardware.

You can always use an external monitor to work around the video issue....

Thanks. I'll give it a try. I've never gotten into a laptop. Kind of thought all the stuff was imbedded on one board.

Yeah, it is all on one board. Just "old school" to call the components "cards".

One screw holds the drive in, just slide it out gently.
