.. when experiments work better than expected.

I made some crock pot county ribs a few weeks ago. I seasoned the ribs with some salt and some Carlina Brothers Pit BBQ Sauce (no idea where it came from, think my old roommate got it from somewhere in the Carolinas). Drained the juice after cooking, made about a full cup. Skimmed off the fat, put it in the freezer.

Tonight I wanted some mashed taters and gravy with dinner, only had powered gravy mix. Found the frozen stuff, took about a 1/4 cup, added a 1/2 cup of water and some thickening.

Holy Carp. That's some good gravy. Didn't have to add a thing to it.

I haven't had country ribs in the crockpot in a loooong time. I usually smoke them these days but you just reminded me of how good that broth is.
