I am not sure if they were busting out store windows. I didn't see any of that in the live video of the event AND the idiots at the end of the permitted march. I DID see one vehicle on Duke Street right AFTER the back window was smashed out by one of the idiots as they were being literally backed up Duke Street (by the CCSO and SP in a long line walking towards them) up to the shopping center where they started.
I go over to Dream Weaver Cafe a lot for my lunch salads, and I can see tomorrow. The BayNet reporter who was recording on his cellphone said he was going to lose his battery so it went dead. (??! Why would you go to a protest intending to record but not take a charger.
)
There was trouble by the stragglers to the peaceful march - the original marchers were peaceful, as reported by people I know on FB - some of whom attended.
The tear gas was deployed because the march was over, they would not leave, they were getting riled up (agitators were screaming, and up in the faces of others, including, at times, the Sheriff) and even after the Sheriff had let them know they needed to disperse/leave/GTFO and the organizers of the march told them the march was OVER - they wouldn't leave. It was kind of fun watching the Sheriff go stand behind the line of deputies and watch them deploy that tear gas. People started movin' then!
Then, I heard someone yelling "EXCESSIVE FORCE".
