I may have a crisis!

Last night, my daughter came to me and said that she had a bug bite on her belly, I looked told her it may be some kind of mesquito or something, then later on I look down at my pitiful little chi-weenie who has been on Frontline Plus for the past two years straight, never miss a treatment, scratching her ass as if it was on fire, I roll her over to find, FLEAS :cds:! WTH! It has only been 3 weeks since her last treatment, and never noticed anything until last night. I tried calling the vet that I take her to and they are closed today, and it's freaking me out, I do not do BUGS!. Is it possible that she has become immuned to the Frontline and maybe I should try another brand. I got to get her treated asap, and bomb the crap out of my house now. Anyone else ever have something like this happen to them?

Was recently at my vet with a new puppy and she was telling that they are finding that frontline is not as effective as it used to be. She doesn't even recommend it anymore. Advantage was her suggestion. You need to get rid of those fleas ASAP. If the dog sleeps with anyone, strip the bed and check for fleas/eggs. I have sprayed my mattress before putting on clean sheets.

Yep!, ripped the sheets off last night, went to Lowes at lunchtime for bombs, spray , whatever else will kills those little blood suckers. Gotta go to Petco and get flea dip and treatment, I'm gonna try that K9-Advantix I guess, I know you can't put the stuff on them until after 48 hours of having a bath. I have a very powerful shop vac and I tell ya, I damn near sucked the padding out of my daughter's carpet last night. I got some stuff to go down the base boards with as well, cuz I heard those little suckers like to run for cover during the bombing, and of course it has to be the hottest day of the year so they can really reproduce and spread. It's horrible, and my dog is so black you can't see anything but her belly, and that's where I spotted the creature. I also have a cockatiel who is 11 years old, and I need to find some place safe to put her during the bombs going off.

Careful about going overboard with treating the dog. Skip the nasty flea dip and just do the Advantage or other spot-on.

It is so funny you say that I too have a chi-weenie who I am having this problem also. However I think mine are in my grass outside and she is bringing them in from out there. I feel so bad for my little girl she has never had one flea and she is 8. I used the Front line ever since I have had her. Thanks for the advise everyone!!

one day the dark will end
In order for those topical treatments to work, flea has to bite dog, injest blood that is now laced with poison, and ta-taa...flea drops off dead.
It takes a while for that to happen....

To kill fleas right away...use a good flea and tick spray.
I use Ovaban spray..buy it from my vet and I also use
Adams, flea and tick spray (alcohol based). Kills fleas ASAP...dries fast, has a coat conditionler in it. Get it at Pet Smart...or Tractor Supply....
I use Adams on raccoons, squirrels, and give them a head to tail bath right after.
I spray it on my pants when going into the woods this time of year.

I have never had an issue with fleas on me or wildlife or my pets after that.

Also can spray on carpets and other household stuff to kill fles. Does not kill flea eggs.

My husband also has spread something in the front yard where the dogs usually go. We will probably do it again soon. Haven't has any problems with fleas or ticks. Once they get in the house they are so hard to get rid of. Good luck!

Well, I think I got it a little under control anyway, I did get some rather good flea spray for carpets and bedding that does kill eggs, I had bathed her the other day, went to get her new flea stuff, vet gave me the k-9 advantix, and I got some yard spray as well, so I am keeping my fingers crossed. Vet said that because it has been so hot and dry, to treat her every three weeks to be safe.

..............

I have used frontline for over 9 years. Never seen a flea or tick on our dogs. We also treat our yard every year too. Hubby buys a bag of stuff, have no idea what it is called, from Lowes and spreads it on the yard.
