Depends on what you need the laptop for. If it's real work, get a laptop. But for web surfing, email checking, etc, you'll definitely like the iPad better because it's easier to tote around.
For $15/mo you can have a reasonable amount of 3G throughput with AT&T. It has wi-fi as well, but the 3G is nice for when there's no wireless available - that's actually what I got the iPad for. If there's an AT&T cell signal, you'll have internet.I was looking to get one just to mess around on. And Walmart has a laptop on sale for $198. But I don't know if its good or not. With the iPad, is the internet service like cell phone service? In other words, I don't have to be in a wifi spot? As you can tell, I'm not too computer savvy.
Yeah, I see the iPad's are around $500. But I don't mind spending the money as long as its worth it. Thank you for your input. The iPad is a LOT more than $198 but to have the portability and reliable wireless connection was worth it to me. That's something you'll have to determine when you make your decision.

I've had an iPad for several months now. I like it more and more. The portability, even just within the house, is great.
Also, the Weather channel app rules on an iPad.
