I probably won't vote anymore after 2020

Greetings:

Unless you have the ability to get citizenship in another country and are willing to relinquish your U.S. citizenship, then merely moving to another country for retirement won't you a bit of good since you'll still be liable to the U.S. for income tax.

If you don't realize the value of U.S. citizenship (the best and most successful nation in human civilization) for anyone of any income bracket, then maybe this isn't the place for you. You should go. I'll even buy you the airplane ticket.
I just asked a question.

If a wealth tax is enacted why would Bill Gates or Jeff Bezos stay in the US? If they don't stay, why should I?

If Keith Richards could do the math, I'm pretty sure most wealthy people can also.

By the way, I will only fly First Class.

Fair enough. This notion has sort of been a thing since Atlas Shrugged was published and objectivism was popular as a philosophy for the uber-wealthy. Where is John Galt and all that.

Most people who talk about this are just bloviating and aren’t going anywhere once they realize that relinquishing US citizenship means it will be a challenge just to come here for healthcare they need. Most people have family, friends, and a whole social life they want to be near.

I think it is the case that people giving up US citizenship has increased in recent years but I think you’ll find it’s in fact super rich people who can afford to fly close friends and family to them once they run through their allowable number of days here now that they’re not a citizen any longer.

And First Class isn't a problem. I generally have enough points to cover it ;-)

So why does the leftist garbage want to destroy it?

Greetings:

I guess it’s all relative. I don’t see anyone wanting to destroy anything. I see people with competing ideas. I prefer a diversity of ideas over a monoculture. It produces a stronger nation.

See, that's the thing. All about competing ideas. And it's not competition when you use the force of law to ensure yours wins because people wont freely choose it.

Because they know that there's no such thing as a "wealth tax". Rich people either hide their money in "foundations" and foreign accounts or they pass the tax down by raising prices.

Stupid liberals have yet to make the connection between raising taxes to stick it to the rich, and their rent going up.

I'm not sure who comes after Trump, but it will most likely be someone who'll **** it all up again and won't continue the rebuilding of our country. We do stupid things in this country (like supporting Socialism).
Aged out??

As I said, all about perspective. My life has not changed for the worse because of those people you listed. For me, life gets better year after year as I watch my wealth grow and I move one step closer to retirement.

Sorry for your apparent luck.

Actually I'm VERY lucky thanks to a energized stock market. My vacant house in Pa closed today, hopefully funds will be in the bank tomorrow. I live in what I consider to be paradise here in SW Virginia. Fresh air, living on the side of the Clinch Mountain and riverfront on the Clinch River, ZERO traffic on my gravel road and nearest neighbor is about 3/4 of a mile away. Unless you own Gibson Island or 1,000 feet of Kent Island all to yourself I doubt I'd be willing to trade. I've been retired since age 54 and wife is an online accounting professor that works 100% from our utopia which we call Shangri-la. No brag, just fact.
OBTW should someone like Sanders actually get control the whole world as we know it will go to shiit.

I just used Gates, & Bezos as extremely well known examples. If any of the wacky taxes are ever passed, the level of wealthy people hiding money offshore will rapidly expand. Just like the physical exodus already occurring from high tax states like NJ, NY, & CA. How many lifelong Marylanders do you personally know that are moving solely for financial reasons? I know quite a few and I will not be far behind them.

There it is, sounds like you have no complaints and nor do I have any complaints. No need for FUD, the world won't go to shiit. We will waver back and forth between left and right and over a long enough time-line the average will be pretty flat. People tend to panic in the here and now and fear of the unknown is a big motivator in term of control of the emotions of wide swaths of the populace.

Our time on this mortal coil is extremely short in the big picture and I'm having a blast. I'm not motivated by fear.

I fear nothing, I'm armed to the teeth beyond most comprehension. Once Nicaragua or Cuba is on the horizon look for a shooting war, bank on it.
