Taken from a bank website for account password reset procedures......
These are the first two lines of the instructions.

"Follow this procedure to be able to reset your password if you forget your password or accidentally lock your account."

"After you have logged in to PCU, got to the "Your Preferences" pull-down and choose any option."

UUuuummmmm.....if you have to reset your password how can you log in??

Many sites have multiple levels of entry/login.

A login protocol does not necessarily require a password.

By following the procedure, you're establishing a method by which you CAN reset your own password in the event you forget it or get locked out, without having to log on first.

My company has been using a procedure like this for years. Saves a lot of time because the customer can reset their own password via a web page without having to contact or wait for the help desk.

Thank you for calling our attention to instructions that were not as clear as we try to be. We have added this line: "You must have access to your account to follow this procedure. If you are currently locked out of your account please contact us", with a link to our contact page. We have also renamed the page "Setting up your password reset question" We hope these changes will clarify the instructions. And don't forget to set up your question so you CAN unlock your account next time even when our offices are closed.

I thought the first one was pretty clear. This is better though.

It's a world of lowest common denominator. I thought the other one was fine as well, but this will help the LCD
