I Stayed at a Holiday Inn Express Last Night

TPD

the poor dad
In Breezewood, Pennsylvania. And I’ve got to say it is probably one of THE best stays I have ever had at a hotel. It was an ALL American staff - front desk, breakfast, cleaners. All white women and all very pleasant and friendly. Mostly older but there were some 30/40s women mixed in as well. A very clean and modern place with some attention to detail. I would definitely stay here again. It just shows that we do not need immigrants in our country to keep us going! I have faith in America once again – thank you, President Trump!

And because I am pulling a 24 foot gooseneck trailer, I have limited options on where I can go because of parking. As a result, I ended up at a red lobster in Hagerstown last night for dinner. Not my first choice, but again, an excellent experience with the wait staff. All American and all very friendly. A pleasant surprise for a chain restaurant and the food wasn’t that bad either. It’s been years since I’ve been to a red lobster but I don’t think those cheddar biscuits are the same - not as good in my opinion.

OK now on with my day to spend the big bucks. Currently some rain and 41°. The woman at the front desk of the hotel said she had sleet at her house this morning – I don’t need to see that.

Last time I was in Breezewood it was in a Holiday Inn bar on August 8, 1974 watching Nixon resign.
Last time I was in Breezewood, I was driving through listening to Lloyd Benston debate, Dan Quail on the radio.

Is there some cosmic convergence regarding this Breezewood town? Seems a LOT of people have some history there.

When you head north into PA, it's a pretty big waypoint.

Breezeway is home to a Phantom Fireworks outlet. They've got some really neat stuff for celebrating Independence Day. 🇺🇸

There used to be a really good PA Dutch restaurant at the Breezewood exit. Did you notice if it's still there?

IF you're driving north to PA from MD to points west and north west - you will almost certainly pass through it.
I used to go through there regularly - but the last time was last year on our way to see the eclipse.

Where did you end up going to see it? My hometown in Ohio was right on the center line, and had some ridiculous number of people who came into town for it.

Have to say I've never gone that way. More betterer for me to take 95/NJT to get where I'm going.

I used to make a yearly trip up there prior to the 4th for our beach celebration on the 4th. Always get the gift cards that give ya 'buy 1 get 2 free'. Last time up there, spent $1400 and got $4800 worth of stuff.

We went to Erie - and watched from Presque Isle Stae Park right along the lake. It was awesome.
