I had me one..an immaculate 1971 Caddy ambulance (that one in your pic appears to be around a 1960 model) . Converted it to the ultimate party-mobile, which was very easy since it came equipped so well right out of the box.
472 CI engine...massive Leece-Neville low-RPM alternator..AC inverter..plasma cooler...climate control front and rear...
All we did was add cushions/bed/table in the back and a kick-butt state-of-the-art 8-track stereo and we were in business!
Could park it anywhwere. Anywhere at all.

Before ambulances folks were hauled away in hearses; in the first half of the 20th century, many ambulance services were operated by community funeral homes. Hearses were used to transport sick and injured persons to the hospital, as well as those individuals who died, to the funeral home.
