I want to adopt a smaller dog...

but I've always had larger dogs. I'm moving into an apartment next month and I can only have a dog 25lbs or less. I plan on adopting an adult dog so I do not have to deal with puppy stage. Anyone have suggestions as to breeds?

I've been thinking looking a dog named Daisy. She's adorable. Problem is I don't know if I could adopt her and then have them hold her until I move later in July.

When you said adult dog I thought you meant at least 2yrs old. Before adopting I would recommend checking the life cycle of the breed just so you don't bond with a pet that may only be with you for a year or two. All dogs deserve a loving family and Daisy is no exception she is a cutie. Reminds me of my poobear I grew up with. :flowers:

I think that it is great that you are looking at older dogs, they are sometimes the ones that people often overlook. We got Remi when she was around 7-8, owner said that she was 4. Even now 2 years later, the hubby made the remark that she has lasted longer than we thought that she would. My oldest doberman was 12 years old, the oldest one before him was 9. We were realistic when we took her in, knowing that even if we only had her for a year, that we could make her life as easy as we could and include her in everything that we do. Now it has been 2 years and she is extremely happy and healthy :)knockingonwood:). So, you never know, and I think that little dogs usually live longer than the bigger dogs. JMO :huggy: Good luck in your seach, and may you find a great companion for many years to come.

Just cruise the shelter and see what is there for adoption when you are ready. I'm sure they will have plenty of small sized adult mutts that need a good home. There's nothing wrong with a mutt. :yay:

My first dog was a border collie/lab/pointer cross (or said the shelter) and he was the best dog I've ever had!!! I would have nothing against a mutt! I love all dogs :yay:
