I want to reformat my drive...

and reinstall to just clean out all the junk/hidden files/etc... that has built up over the years. I am going through and making sure I have saved anything I want to keep to a CD.

Is it pretty simple to export my Office Outlook settings and saved email to a CD and just reimport it back once I get everything back up? I haven't ever had to deal with trying to keep stuff from Outlook. If I didn't have email I wanted to keep, also, I would just add my email settings to it again. I also don't want to lose some calendar stuff. It would be a PITA to find everything in outlook and have to save it some other way and track all the calendar stuff.

Open Outlook like normal. Go to File (top left hand side), go to "Import/Export"
Go to "Export to a file" make sure you click on the "personal folder file .pst" file. Next go to what you want to backup and highlight it (i.e. Calender). From here you want to save it some where other then the outlook folder. I would suggest making a temp folder or some thing like that and saving it there with a date (i.e. cal_3-16-07.pst) and then save it. You will have to do this for each thing you want to back up (as far as I know that is). After you've backed every thing you want to save. After you do all that get out of Outlook and then just creat your CD like you normally do. If you don't get out of outlook then you will run into problems trying to copy them because outlook will be using these .pst files at this time.

Also if you have a lot of favorites on you computer (internet) you might want to save them too. Just a thought. Good luck.

Thanks! :yay:

This is my easy route instead of going through all the files and folders and attempting a cleanup. I also want to make sure I have finally gotten rid of all the extras that came pre-installed from Dell that have files everywhere.

And to my karma giver...

Nah, I have an external 300GB drive for all my porn. I have it alphabeticed and categorized almost every way you can imagine. Of course, 300GB is hardly enough anymore and my 10,000RPM RAID0 just didn't get at it fast enough... The wife gets home quick from work.

I lost connection to my Online College Video Course last night thanks to you! Now I missed this weeks lesson from Berkely's Naked Lesbian Eco-Friendly Cooking class.

I'll send you the brochure for the Summer session.

They've added Gardening... Lots of bending, squating and stooping.
