a little girl was hit in the mouth/face with a foul ball. She was taken away in an ambulance. I had my 2 year old daughter and 4 year old son with me and was just talking to my wife about something like that happening and then it happened.

I was wondering if anyone knew how she was doing. I think she was part of the summer camp group that was there. They were all in purple shirts. Hope she's ok.

Don't know how she was doing, but we were there 2 weeks ago, and a little girl in the play area was hit in the head by a foul ball...

So, the group of us that knew what happened kept wondering why they never put up like a batting cage net around the play area or something....

The 1st game we went to up there, in the play area had a foul ball land about 2ft away from my daughter and I, we were in line for one of the moon bounce things, never seen/knew it was coming either :ohwell:

Don't get me wrong, I love the stadium, and the set up, but there isn't much protection for the person(s) not paying attention to the game in the play area.

There's always inherent danger of getting hit at any stadium, even if you're behind the backstop. I've seen more than one pop-up come straight down in the stands behind home plate and have heard the THUNK! from the parking lot! Unless they surround the entire field with a really, really tall net, everyone is in varying degrees of danger. Maybe they'll consider putting one up around the playground if enough parents complain. You can mitigate the risk by being aware of what is going on on the field.

Putting a net over the kids area is 1 thing, around the stadium is another. If you are in your seats, you are willingly accepting the risk, and I am all for that, and I love that about ALL baseball stadiums...

But I do think, they should have known many people who come with small kids, are basically there to say ' we went to a baseball game', or 'we are basically here for the fireworks'...

Majority of kids at that age could care less about the ball game itself, they see it as a new place to play.

The ONLY thing I would change about the stadium, is the play area having a net around it.

Why not get little batting helmets for the kids? Or hard hats?
