This guy invented a way to allow his young daughter, who is mobility-challenged, to access areas that would have been impossible. Pretty cool.
In 2012, we welcomed our third child, Luciana into our family. When it came time for Luci to start standing up to things and toddling around, we developed some concerns that led us to several doctors and specialists. After dozens of visits, tests, and miracles, we discovered she had a very rare genetic disorder called Hereditary Spastic Paraparesis (HSP) that would limit her ability to walk independently.
We had never planned on a wheelchair being a regular part of our life; nobody does really. One question that arose was, “how are we going to hike together? And get up in the mountains on backpacking trips and go on adventures together?” As a native of Jackson, WY, being in the mountains became an essential part of my wellbeing and I had expected to share those experiences with my family.
