I have been wanting to get a nice one for sometime now...finally I am going to get one

Any suggestions? Best brand/model? Ones to avoid?

How about the Kitchenaid ice cream mixer attachment?

Thanks

I have two, both by white mountain. One is a hand crank and the other electric. Ice Cream Makers - White Mountain®

They both work well; the hand cranker is for using at family gatherings when there are lots of folks to take turns. The electric when I need to get a batch done and have other things to do.

I have a Salton that is about 13 years old. It's okay but I don't love it. When I drug it out this afternoon I made a note to shop around and find a new one.

This is the one I think I might have decided on:
Amazon.com: Cuisinart ICE-30BC Pure Indulgence 2-Quart Automatic Frozen Yogurt, Sorbet, and Ice Cream Maker: Kitchen & Dining

It just seems stupid to spend $90 on something I only use once or twice a year.
With ingredients that comes to over $50 a gallon...

What?!
Cuisinart Ice Cream and Sorbet Maker

I absolutely HAD to have one a few weeks ago and the only one I was able to find in a store around here was that one at Kolhs. I've used it several times already and it gets the job done. The boys like being able to throw in whatever they want. Strawberries, peanut butter cups, etc.

If I had time, I would have ordered the attachment for my Kitchen Aide instead

If you have the grandkids over though I am sure they would get a kick out of it :)

W/ 5 kids I am spending about $50 a month in just ice cream / ice cream products (I LOATHE the ice cream man :burning:) So I think this might be the cheaper alternative for me. At least I hope.

Ok these are the ones I was looking at! So it works good? How long to actually churn the ice cream? Do you really turn your freezer down to -05? Freeze the bowl over night?
Somebody get their biatch ass in the kitchen and make me some ice cream!

I am trying too chicky!

:yum: Margarita sorbet!! :yahoo:
Firends of ours brought over the Margaritaville mixer OMFG that thing is AMAZING! I dont even drink frozen beverages that much but now I want one bad

If you let the cream mix chill in the fridge over night, you'll have icecream in about 20-30 minutes. If you just let it chill for 2-3 hrs and let it go for 20-30 mintues, you'll get kinda runny softserve that needs to be thrown in the freezer to set up more. I freeze the bowl overnight and don't turn the freeze down.

You do NOT dip your ball sack into icecream, you use a frozen bag of pea you moron!!!!!

Mini me got to experience the frozen peas this week as well after her surgery. She thought we were crazy when we asked her if she wanted frozen peas or corn. :roflmao:

you have 5 kids. Get the old fashioned crank style and make them earn their icecream treats. Kill two birds, they won't be "bored" for a few hours and they'll enjoy their icecream!!!!!

My grandmother used to have the old crank. We all took turns with that thing. BEST Icecream EVER!!!!! RIP Grandmom. I sure do miss that homemade icecream.
