WASHINGTON - Four strangers from Topeka's Westboro Baptist Church joined the family, friends and fellow Marines who flocked to Bel Air's Oak Grove Baptist Church Friday to mourn Marine Cpl. Jennifer Marie Parcell, 20, killed last week by a suicide bomber while serving at a military checkpoint in Anbar Province, Iraq.

The strangers were from a nationally known protest group that deplores homosexuality -- Fred Phelps, Jr., his wife, Betty Phelps, his sister, Abigail Phelps, and fellow church member Lauren Drain -- and they carried signs bearing mottoes like "Thank God for Dead Soldiers," "You will eat your children," and "Soldiers Die, God Laughs."

I deplore violence but I think they need to be taught a lesson. A hefty lawsuit might work but I think the best thing would be to round them all up and ship them all to Iraq (with or without guns). Let them stay there for about a year and see if they survive.

This unfortunately is one of the by-products of having an open, free, and tolerant society. God is a bit too sophisticated for Man's comprehension, and while I consider myself a believer, I'm rational and humble enough to realize that the wishes of the Almighty are beyond my understanding.

There are some portions of mankind that foul up any and every nest that they can climb into, for whatever feeble reason that can enter into their mind.

My own personal tolerance for BS is at its limit with these folks, they sure seem to know their way around a courtroom and how to litigate against those who are outraged at the venom they spew. But if someone could find a quick and legal means to get these bozo's out of OUR country (preferably to Taliban country) I'd sure put a few dollars in the plate. Of course it might be better to get ahold of some of Jim Jones Kool-Aid, or the Heaven's Gate folks to get them out of our national gene pool in a manner that will prevent their return....

These people are some of the most disgusting things free-speech can provide. They actually take pleasure at other people's pain and anguish. They have no love for the ideals of this country, yet use them to promote their agenda. Unfortunately, to silence them would be to disrespect the sacrifices of the very peolpe they ridicule. They have the right in this country of free speech. We can't tell them how to use that right, all we can do is endure it. To resort to violence outside of the law against them would be to stoop to their level, and shame the sacrifices of all those who have ever defended the Constitution.
