St. Mary's Co. Identity Needed for Attempted Burglary Suspect

The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office is seeking the identity of the person pictured in an attempted burglary investigation. On Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2023, at 5:30 pm, the suspect attempted to gain access to a home in the area of Columbia Commons in Lexington Park. The home's door was locked, preventing access, and the suspect left in the dark colored SUV pictured.

Anyone with information about the identity of the suspect or this incident is asked to call Deputy Richard Wilhelmi at 301-475-4200, ext. 78152 or email richard.wilhelmi@stmaryscountymd.gov.

Citizens may remain anonymous and contact Crime Solvers at 301-475-3333, or text a tip to “TIP239” plus their message to “CRIMES” (274637). Through the Crime Solvers Program tipsters are eligible for an award of up to $1,000 for information about a crime in St. Mary’s County that leads to an arrest or indictment.

Honest question. If they didn't enter the premises how do they know what would have been attempted? Maybe it would just be a B&E. Maybe a burglary. Maybe assault? Maybe murder? Why settle on burglary?
