IE 9 is released

CNNMoney Tech Tumblr — Et tu, Microsoft?
With hardware acceleration, enhanced privacy controls and a vastly improved user interface, IE9 isn’t just better than IE8, it’s actually usable.

Only, it might not be enough. Other browsers, which have had those capabilities for quite some time, are rapidly gaining popularity. And in just a few weeks, Microsoft’s biggest competitor, Firefox (the Vandals), is coming out with version 4. Firefox 4 does all the things that IE9 does — only it’s also compatible with Windows XP.

Incompatibility with XP might be IE9’s fatal flaw (orgies). After all, that means it won’t work on the operating system that still runs on 55% of the world’s computers. It’s not a bad idea to give those folks incentive to upgrade too, considering one in eight computers still use IE6 (partying like it’s 99).

I've been using the FireFox 4 beta for a few weeks now and haven't had a lick of trouble with it. I didn't like the layout of some of the buttons, but a few minutes of playing with the layout took care of that. Runs fast, seems to fix a couple little glitches on some websites. I have no intention of using IE.

I used IE on someone else's computer recently (not sure which version). Another reason I was glad to come home to FF.

It's going to take a lot of improved features to peel me away from Google Chrome.

I love Google Chrome:dingding:! My 2nd browser of choice is Firefox, unless I'm on a Mac then my 2nd choice would be, of course, Safari.

I totally agree with you. I love everything about Chrome. The only problem sometimes is the fact that some pages don't display properly, but thats very rare today. If I find one that doesnt display well, I use FF.

is that chrome's fault or someones crappy coding to "IE" standards

Honestly, I'm not sure, I think its a little of both; mostly Chrome though. I do know that you can 'report' sites that aren't being viewed properly and Google works to try to correct it. 99% of the sites I go to work extremely well with Chrome.

My most favorite 'feature' is just the speed at which it loads up & loads new tabs. Very snappy w/ no wait time compared to IE. Although I havent tried IE 9 yet, so that may have been fixed. I still wont switch though :0)

Another great feature is their custom homepage, it shows you your 8 most visited sites when you start up and you can click on them to go there. They are also pinnable if you always go to the same 8 sites.
