If it weren't for double standards, the left would have none at all.

Or: the left is for the Constitution, but only when it suits them.

"Senate Bill 83 most likely violates the equal protection rights afforded by the United States Constitution because it discriminates against transgender children seeking to participate in girls' or women's sports" according to Kentucky state Governor Andy Beshear, in his veto message.

Sadly for him, the Kentucky state legislature has overridden the Democratic Governor's veto of a bill to block biological males from competing in girls' or women's athletics from sixth grade through college.

The last time the Left was FOR the constitution was when their slaves counted as 3/5 of a person for representation purposes.
My understanding is that that 3/5ths thing, as, what? villified by the left as it is, was actually a win of sorts to those who were anti-slavery at the time. They didn't have the clout to free the slaves at the time, but they managed to get them counted as something, rather than nothing.

If I remember my history, the northern states didn't want them counted at all. It was a bad compromise to get the southern states to vote for the Constitution.

A man who claims to be a transgendered woman has no integrity, honesty, or self worth when they compete with real women. They are slime.

I'd love for this goob to show me in the Constitution where it says that men have a right to compete in women's sports.

It still stuns me that so-called feminists are cheering this on. But they also have a history of cheering on male Democrat sexual predators, so.....

^This^ The North didn't want them counted as citizens for representation purposes, but the South did because it would give them more Congresscritters and electoral votes. The irony, of course, is that slaves would count toward increased representation when they were not being represented at all in any way.

So politicians have always been effed up idiots who need to be slapped upside the head.

It really doesn't do justice to slaves to COUNT them as citizens but grant them NONE of the privileges of citizenship.

I assume that if this constitutional challenge is deemed accurate, then the same reasoning would hold for regular males participating in women's sports as well?

No, it doesn't, but that's how Washington works and how politicians think.

They DID do something that Washington DOESN'T do now, anymore - craft a compromise. It's largely an all or nothing enterprise - you get what you want, and you either ram it through over the objections of your opposition by any means available - or you pick off votes from your opposition by offering deals and riders to sweeten the deal.

To my understanding, a compromise is where neither side gets everything they want, but they get enough of it that they're satisfied.

At the time of the nation's founding, we had a seriously enormous war debt - and without the South (mostly, Virginia, far and away the richest and most populous state) we had no chance at all to meet it. The country would splinter and the powers of Europe would easily rip it to pieces. They HAD TO MAKE A DEAL or they had no chance of survival.

I once read an historian who claimed that every revolution is followed by civil war, as factions who collaborated for power subsequently fight for control. And that the difference with the United States was, we managed to stave it off for seventy years, but the war DID eventually come.
