John 20:24 Now Thomas (also known as Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!”
But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”
26 A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”
28 Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”
29 Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
30 Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. 31 But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
Good Sunday Morning! I overslept. On these forums, I've read a lot of comments from people who just don't Believe the Bible. I've read comments from Atheists, and Agnostics.... There are people commenting who have an American Indian Heritage. There are those who are Jewish and just giggle at the thought of being a Christian.... believing a man "escaped" through solid rock.
Here's what John recorded about Thomas. Thomas looked so much like Jesus.... he was probably in deathly peril. Thomas just would not Believe and said so. If Jesus was still on earth, walking around and talking to people, after that brutal murder on the Cross.... well, that was something Thomas would have to see for himself. So.... Jesus showed him.... and Thomas, AKA Didymus... the twin... Believed. Yay for Thomas!
But what about the rest of us... well turns out, those of us who Believe are really the "blessed of us".
See, Jesus says we are blessed because we have not seen it and yet we Believe.
John says there were a lot more stories he could have included about Jesus.
I know Matthew, Mark, and Luke covered stories John didn't write about.
I wonder, did Jesus deal with topics the writers didn't see "fit" to discuss in a book? Like when Jesus said, "let the children come to me". Not everyone talked about it. Jesus loved children... what would Jesus have said about an earth so upside down that women would rather die than have children. Did Jesus deal with the trans movement that would come about? I wonder... did some stories get cut because no one would Believe them.
John said he wrote the Gospel because John Believed and Jesus told John and the others to "pass it on".
If we Believe.... We will be Blessed with eternal life in His name.
Sorry I'm a little late this morning. I overslept...
If we Believe.... we will be Blessed.
