for $800 dollars, it might behoove you to mention that before you keep the seller out in his cold driveway for an hour. Especially after 30 minutes in he says he'll take $1000 for it. :faint::nomoney:

For that you can have the spare 1.3 liter engine :) At 65hp, that means your only paying $7.60 per pony :) Annnd he's coming back this afternoon to pick it up for $1000 :)

That's pretty arrogant of the seller to want a 33% price drop and hope you will accept with a smile.

Buying a car is not like your weekend yard sale trip!

The karmic part of this is that a week ago I spotted a late 90s BMW for $1200. Told the wife after looking it over that I could probably get the owner to give it up for $800 :) Might make a cool project.

Calling and asking the owner if they would accept is a far cry from showing up under the guise of the $1200 price tag, blathering about for an hour, then making an offer of $800.

Yep, just glad I'll be getting the space back. That's two parking spots and about 10 square feet of space in the garage :)

OP - relax. The purchaser gave you the opportunity to say no. You now know that you got the most you could from that buyer and the buyer now knows that they got the vehicle for the lowest cost they could. As far as the time spent, it may have taken the buyer that long to convince himself he really wanted that vehicle for $1000.

Restituion - you say "Buying a car is not like your weekend yard sale trip!" Why isn't it?

Oh, I dont mind him coming back, just the extra 30 minutes from 10pm to 1030 after I came down $200. And when I text about 425 asking if he was still coming (he was supposed to be here at 4pm) he says he's getting ready to leave the dump in Waldorf. Latest at 520pmwas " Leaving in five minutes. which means he'll be two hours and a half hours late.

Yep, jebus, what a process. Finally got here at 630, so it was dark, then it started raining. Finally got it all loaded and they left about 930. Was quite a process. both trucks, one with no motor so it had to be towed up to the upper driveway, hand pushed to the trailer, then used the Jeep to pull it up on the trailer. Two extra motors, two fuel tanks.
