That's why we will not have effective airport security in this country until we are willing to put aside the touchy-feely "don't hurt anyone's feelings" crap.
It may take a few more airliners into buildings for us to get to that point. Once enough people have died, we might get to the point that we are willing to tell the ACLU to STFU.

...would not have happened had we, airline security, simply followed existing procedures. 9/11 would not have happened had the CIA and FBI been allowed to share existing intel.
The word is 'diligence'. The hardest job in the world is standing a post because you have to be doing well all the time. A bad guy simply looks for someones guard to be down.
Israel has been successful because they have been diligent. Concerns over profiling decrease the focus on diligence. They can't afford too much of that. We hate diligence in the US. The next airline incident in the US will be for the same reason as the last ones; lack of diligence. We can afford a lot of it.

It’s been 7 years since and as long as a majority of Americans perceive now that the only concerns are what’s Paris Hilton is up to, or a long line at McDonald’s, security at the level the Israelis seem to maintain will never be respected. In contrast, the Israelis are reminded almost daily of the terror threat and it doesn’t take a degree in Political Science or the Army War College to understand the difference in priorities regarding security. I pray almost daily that it will never be necessary to implement security to their level. If that day should come America will have been shaken to its very foundation.
