Illegal immigrant arrested for laundering $915,000 in stolen catalytic converters
Taylorsville police officers, as part of The Crimes Against Statewide Economy (CASE) Unit have arrested 47-year-old Omar Ernesto Martinez-Gomez accusing him of laundering $915,230 worth of stolen catalytic converters in Utah.
The court records state the unidentified person told police he sold stolen catalytic converters to Martinez-Gomez for $200 each.
Agents with the Attorney General’s Office allege Martinez-Gomez sold a total of 3,556 catalytic converters for $915,230 in 423 transactions.
