Scared Smithfield workers stay home
“There are hundreds of immigrant families who will have to decide, ‘Do I show up to work (Friday) and risk being arrested by immigration?’” said Eduardo Pena, a spokesman for the union, which became an unofficial hub of information for workers Thursday, he said.
Good.

Check that out...enforce the law ONE TIME and it has a ripple effect. Who'd a thunk it?

California Latinos fearful after immigration raids
"We're terrified. The police could come for us at any time and deport us," she said in Spanish earlier this week as diners fingered maize tortillas stuffed with beans and pork scratchings and chatted softly.

The 55-year-old undocumented worker from Guatemala is among many Hispanics deeply shaken by recent immigration raids at the heart of Latino communities in southern California.

The ones that are here legally are probably sleeping like kittens at night.
And taking all the jobs!

So there's an immigration raid and x-number of employees don't show up for work that day. Wouldn't that give you a small clue?

Being here illegally, you should fear being deported. But really, the illegal aliens that are here illegally...don't have much to worry about..because they probably won't be deported. Sure there is a raid here and there...but when you deport 450 illegals out of the 12 million that are already here...that doesn't amount to much. Besides, all they have to do is just wait for President Bush's guest worker amnesty program to go into effect...then they'll be all set.

When we start deporting illegals by the thousands, that's when they should be really afraid. Until then, unfortunately, they don't have a thing to worry about.

If I were an INS officer my little light bulb would have just lit. I'd go wherever these workers might gather and present myself as a union rep. "Sure, we can chat. Why don't you and your friends come meet me in my white van over there..."

Hmmmm.....what a dilemma. Go to work and continue to steal American jobs and dollars and risk deportation because I AM ILLEGAL or stay home and collect unemployment and free medical benefits for me and my family from the sympathetic, pro-immigrant, anti-American government. Yeah, that's the ticket!

Anyone hear about this?

Illegal Immigrant Sues Chicago Radio Station...

Illegal... err, undocumented person enters raffle. This person wins the raffle, but can't claim her prize because of her status. She claims to not have been aware that she needed to be a citizen. The solution? Use the U.S. legal system in a twisted attempt to make people feel sorry about the status you chose, even being fully aware of the potential consequences.

Alvarez also claims in the lawsuit that an attorney... threatened to turn her in to U.S. immigration officials if she tried to pursue the issue in court.

Illegals scared to go t... 01-26-2007 05:48 PM But ya sure don't mind em when you need your roof done, house built, fence put up, etc. As long as you're the one benefiting, it's all good?
 When did I say anything remotely close to that? In fact, I think it's extremely ironic when politicians push for higher minimum wage on one hand so that people can make a "livable wage" and then on the other hand push for ignoring illegal immigration so that we can have less-than-minimum-wage workers. Whoever you are, you have no f'ing clue what my position is on immigration, but I'm here to discuss it if you ever grow a sack.

aw I got that too! someone loves us!!

I would hire a contractor that only hires people that are legally here. And if they aren't.. They wouldn't fix my house.

I'm against the amnesty, but instead of just handing it over, maybe it should be some type of earned privilege.

Maybe get them to serve a 2 yr tour in the Army stationed as border guards in Iraq...

Illegals becoming legal by defending Iraqi borders against illegals?

Granted they would have to have some type of english language skills...

just an idea i pooped out

:lmao: I would rather LEGAL AMERICAN CITIZENS do the work.

Americans are not doing the work because they don't want to. What the mother fu©k would possess someone to think that? They don't have those jobs because some illegal immigrant is making as much money, not having to pay the taxes, getting government healthcare, and the company isn't paying taxes on them either.

It's a win-win for hiring illegal immigrants in this country and that needs to be changed. Offering amnesty is a solution, but many illegals that haven't been caught won't take it and probably wouldn't get caught. So, amnesty's a bad idea.

I like that idea. :yay: If they're willing to do things Americans won't do, there ya go. I actually think that is somewhat the idea behind the current plan is making them earn their stay, not automatic amnesty, unless this plan's been changed.
