Illinois State Police give bureaucrat siezed car

Not just any car, a 425 horsepower high performance car. Which, for the record, requires premium gas, and goes through about $1000 a year in tires. And requires full synthetic oil. And gets 14-15 city, 20-21 highway, tops.

Car was seized from a habitual drunk driver, which is legal, and I'm okay with that, my issue is that the car should have been auctioned off, or turned into a DARE type "example car", not given away as a perk to the guy who heads the hiring/firing/discipline board.

He's not an officer, does no enforcement, the car is not equiped in any way, since this guy isnt an officer.

And you know who's going to pay for that.

According to the article, the state pays for gas, but then deduct something from his pay? Not sure how that works.

How much does he make?

I know in Charles County, only the people who make over $100,000/year get free cars.

Except, they don't have to pay for their gas in any way. And a lot of them live over an hour away somewhere in Virginia.

Gotta love how our tax dollars are spent. :yay:

Close to 100K. Theres evidently a few other high dollar cars they hand out also.

Did you see this gem?

"It's not a situation where I'd do anything for them or they for me," Cooley said. "It helped our budget and they had something they couldn't use."

:lmao:

So, giving someone a car is better for the budget than auctioning off the car? :killingme:killingme

What kills me is that he can say that with a straight face, while he's in charge of all hiring, and firing, and most importantly, discipline. So, your troopers are going to be facing the board this guy runs when they are in trouble. Giving him a +43K (sticker in 2006, value now about 28-30K) car that can do 0-60 in under 5 seconds, and top 170, nah, no influence there:killingme
