Someone on FB posted all his priors. Me thinks he is not a very well behaved member of society.

As quickly as it will be passed around FB, he will probably become a target himself. He may have a bullseye on his back. When I lived in FL, pieces of $hit like him were called "Gator Bait"

LIKE.... :yay: agre ff, gator bait

Wouldn't one think, with people like this just being able to live any old where, folks would keep their dogs safe from them by not allowing them to run loose? I have a dog and it's pretty easy to keep them under control. I do it all the time, every day - Apollo is never outside unless he is attended by me. Mostly because I'm afraid some crazy will come along and start feeding him or steal him, but regardless...

I think we all agree that, based on what has been posted and revealed, this is not a good guy upstanding citizen. So why aren't the dog owners being taken to task for allowing this person to get hold of their pet? Why are negligent dog owners awful horrible people...until something actually happens to their dog, then the person who ran their dog over or shot it or whatever suddenly become Satan and owner gets a pass?

I agree to a point. I had a Black Lab that was a sneaky little sucker. Secretly dig an escape tunnel under the fence and such... Then she would spot a squirrel and it was over. Sometimes I thought she was deaf, because she was so hard headed! She would truck through the woods with me trying to chase her. Like I said earlier in the thread, accidents happen. I don't think I was a bad owner, I did everything I could to prevent escapes.

Things could have been handled differently in this case with Woodburn, but to be honest I don't think he has the mental capacity to handle the situation in any other way.

And knowing that is one of the reasons Apollo isn't allowed to roam.

He is a runner as well, and I take precautions so that he can't get loose. He used to be allowed to run around Vince's fenced in back yard...until he dug under and took off. Once. He did that once, and now he gets tied up. In a fenced in back yard.

So how many times is acceptable for a dog to escape their confines before the owner beefs up security? The owners of that dog need to bear their part of this. I don't feel sorry for them, not one bit. They should have kept their dog safe. Would everyone be doing the same keening if the dog had been hit by a car? To me this is the same thing.

So there's the question:

Had this dog been hit by a car while running loose, would the driver be to blame? Or would you blame the owners for letting the dog run?

Who knows how many times this dog escaped? This may have been the second time, this may have been the 100th time. Do we know this answer?

Everything doesn't have to be a blame game... Accidents happen. Geez

Depends, did the driver brag on FB the night before about seeing a dog in the road and that he was gonna get him the next night? And did he then post a pic of himself proudly displaying the dead dog that night? With a story that the dog just jumped out in front of him? And does that driver have a record of driving recklessly?

happy to be living
My husband and I moved here 9 years ago. I hate to admit, though I have met people that live in Ridge, I couldn't tell you how to get there nor have I ever been there. What I have heard, though, is that many people take the law into their own hands and the local community has their own way of enforcing the law. One story I heard years ago involved someone that disappeared (a comparison to my reference to "gator bait" or "shark bait") As in, certain people knew that person wouldn't be coming home for dinner that night...or ever again bacsue of something they did that pissed many people off.
OK, I am all about people keeping their pets in control and not letting them run free. I am certainly not going to defend an animal running loose that was attacking, maming or harming people or livestock. I do know there are leash laws that many people seem oblivious of.
This guy seemed like he was going to kill this dog no matter what. To post a proud picture of it was tasteless. And for seeing his priors, I think he is a scumbag.
Did the dog deserve to die? Probably not. Should he have died because he was a pit bull? Probably not. Should the owner be blamed for the dog running loose? Hell Yes. But I don't think this thug had any right to do what he did and brag about it.

I apologize if I offended anyone from Ridge with this post.

Here is Lost and Found's FB post:

These people are disturbing and you can see how things are being made up as the mouth breathing gets heavier - "somebody told me..." "I heard..." Now they've collectively decided that he lured the dog onto his property with food. They've decided that because he shot that dog, he will also kill humans. They've decided they know, from a photo, that the dog was running away and going home when he was shot. The OP is reposting the dead dog pics, including pics of the man's house. There are a number of threats, from beating him up to killing him. There are a couple of voices of reason in there, then the mob turns against them.

I've reported it to FB and sent a copy to the Sheriff's Dept. At the very least the original poster should be charged with organizing and encouraging a violent mob. That thread is one of the more irresponsible things I've seen.

You all are dangerous when you become a mindless mob and that is why I fear and loathe you.

Intelligent people, as a general rule, aren't susceptible to Frankenstein villager-ing. They have brains that they actually use to deliberate instead of just mindlessly reacting to every bit of stimuli. The people you see acting like that are mostly retarded, hence the illiteracy. It's like that everywhere, not just those people.

From that thread:
I hope the states attorney decides to prosecute him when he starts hunting people! Today's justice system is soo ####ed! I hope I don't find his address, because I'll put a bullet in his dogs back and hang him on pole in his front yard

I should post her name, but I won't. You all can find it if you want to. This woman needs to be locked up.

I reported it to FB.

Yep, dog should have been home. Is it running next door an automatic death sentence? Can I shoot any dog that enters my property? I live on a private road, if the neighbors dog is on that road, can I shoot it? I think the main point here is that this guy didnt have to shoot the dog, he shot it because he wanted to. If that's true, is that a thing you think is okay? Granted, if the dog did attack, him, thats different, but simply crossing your property doesn't seem to be a valid reason to end a house pet.

Yes, you can shoot a dog on your property.
If you're not an idiot and don't post it on the internet, nobody will know

Personally I wasnt talking about what you can legally do, but if you feel it's right to shoot a dog that isnt threatening you but simply passing over your property on it's way to elsewhere.
