I'm going to start calling you "Gammie". :lmao:

For any who don't know, my Gammie loved all of her wild critters, and they all knew where to come for a bite to eat. Food never went to waste in her home, and she enjoyed watching them.

It's getting crazy. I thought I was just feeding the black momma cat when I discovered the new black one today (nearly her twin in appearance but twice her size). The grey is hard to see...it came to eat tonight and it was dark and the pic had to be taken through a closed door.

The possum sat there while I opened the door to pose for the picture.

The coons were from earlier this week. There is a family of four of them that come up and scamper for food. They LOVE the cat food or the bread I leave on the deck.

To my karma giver, that picture of the opposum was taken 20 minutes ago...the date stamp is wrong on the camera I used. :howdy:

And to the other giver, thanks for the ... blank red

Traps for the kitties and get them fixed. Otherwise, you need to stop feeding them. JMO.

I have the trap on the deck but I will need to make sure someone is available to take the kittie to the clinic. I seriously thought I was only dealing with one cat.

Check out these coons.... :lmao:

It looks like you might have a colony there. This is harsh...somebody is able to get out and get them food, then somebody can take them to the clinic.

Fact remains, you are not supposed to have a pet where you live. :frown:

As far as the coons go, I must be blind...I see lights, a chair and a table.

Look on the left side of the picture. They are all kind of piled up in the corner of the deck. One is actually sitting on another one

By taking them, I just mean that when the cat is caught, I don't want it in the cage for hours upon hours, so trapping day will have to be a day when someone else is around too and of course when the clinic is open.

I have no real pets. These cats make their rounds up and down the cul-de-sac. I will do my part to control the pet population and have them fixed, if I can catch them. The coons, possum and fox and whatever else there is, I have no control...I live in the woods.

hammishsqueak

We're all mad here.
Girl.... :killingme

I'd get rid of those things in picture 3 and 5. Those things can get down right mean. Uggg

When I was in high school one of my friends was charged by a possum while waiting for his school bus. I think he ended up having to kick it in order to avoid being bitten. Not sure if it was evil or rabid!

You DO have control..dont put out food for ANY of the wildlife.
Cats, coons, foxes and sometimes possums CAN carry rabies..not to metion a real nasty raccoon roundworm that CAN KILL YOU.
You step on deck, grass, get roundworm on feet, into system...says prayers, do a will and wait to die.

Clean up your deck, dont feed ANYONE and there will be no problems.
Racooons will eat kittens so will opossums.
You feed kitties, you pump them up to be able to carry and give birth.

Be safe, dont feed wildlife or stray cats...PERIOD.

Cheers,
Inky...Wildlife Rehabber, DNR, MD.

I bumped a thread for you. Amazing how you can be so two faced.

I posted pictures of visitors on my deck...completely innocent. It wasn't an invitation for an attack from you.

You once offered your help, but I'll go ahead and delete your number now. Thanks, but no thanks.

You should have made it red, maybe it would have knocked some sense into this "stupid" person.

You bumped what thread?
I did not attach you...I told you that you do have control and do not have to put out food for the animals.
#1 carrier of rabies? CATS.
#2 raccoons.
But heck, you want to put yourself at risk? Have at it.
Invite wild animals to your back door...have a good time

You thought it cute to take and post these photos..otherwise why did you do it?

Feeding wildife is not an innocent act..it is foolish and dangerious.

Doubt me? Call DNR and ask them.

I am not attacking you sweetie, I am correcting your actions in the hopes it will prevent an exposure to a deadly disease, and the chance of exposure to other zooanosis.

Opossums have the highest concentration of worms than any other animal..and they deposite those eggs on your deck and property.

Raccooon roundworm is deadly and bleach will not kill it, it will live in the soil for 7+ years!!!

Your feeding of the cats is not helping them, as you are not trappping them and altering them.

As I said, please dont feed them, stop now before it is too late.

Cheers,
Inky.

Here ya go..all you need to know about raccoon roundworm.

Baylisascaris (Bay-liss-ass-kuh-ris) (Raccoon Roundworm) can cause skin irritations and eye and brain damage in humans and domestic pets (such as dogs and cats) resulting in blindness and even death

Controlling infections of this parasite requires minimizing contact with areas inhabited by raccoons. Fecal contamination of an area can result in millions of eggs being deposited and therefore available for infection. These eggs are extremely resistant to environmental conditions, being able to survive for several years. Any area contaminated with raccoon feces should be cleaned and the feces, as well as any contaminated feed, straw or hay, burned. Children and pets should be kept away from these contaminated areas until a thorough cleaning has occurred.

There have been 2 human fatalities, but both occurred in young children and were the result of a child being exposed to open fireplaces in the home that had been contaminated by a pet raccoon and a child chewing on contaminated firewood brought into the home, respectively.

Take a good look at photos...as see what you are inviting up to your deck to feed the cats you are not allowed to have.

As a rehabber.. I am more terrified of this then of rabies.

To clean areas where raccoons have been, we use a blowtorch. Bleach does NOTHING...so if these guys have brought/shed eggs on your deck...no way to clean it..contaminated for years...and the cats you are feeding are at risk.

Inky ... maybe if you were a little less harsh at the way you post your comments you would get thank you instead of plowing in and bursting folks. You seem to have taken it real personal to attack peeps. Perhaps anger management would help these issues you have. Or maybe you need to retire away from the forums...that will be all...

Reality sucks..and so does the harsh truth..and I am not alone in crusade to spay/neuter cats..

And if she cant handle the truth, and will not stop feeding the cats and will not bother to trap them and get them fixed, then I need to be harsh.

Check this out: Stuff On My Cat: Stuff + Cats = Awesome
and read well about Iggy.....a kitten that knew only 24 hours of human compassion.....

Either get your friend to fix them or stop feeding them.

Ya know a female cat can give birth 2-3 times a year until she dies of old age?
Female cats do not go into menopause....they breed until they die.

Think about that.

I do not know the one who started the thread, All my cats are fixed, I have compassion for what you are saying and most of the time agree. Its just the way you get on the slam wagon, Animal control was lending out traps and then you call them to pick them up after they were trapped. For those that could not deal with it. They will humanely euthanize the cats. The poster has some attachments or she/he would have taken care of making a call to resolve the matter instead of feeding.

And I hope people go and look at the barrels of dead cats at TriCounty to see the propblem they are a part of by not altering cats...and by feeding them and NOT getting them fixed.

The posted was offered help and refused.
30 days later, more cats and wildlife....more problems.

And I am so done with this..she is not gonna get them fixed...and does not care.

I am tired, I have critters to care for and have no more patience for this woman... or this thread.

I notice you jump on people about that, but when I posted last week about rescuing a dog from CAWL, I don't recall seeing you post that what I did was a good thing. Maybe you did and maybe you do every time someone rescues, but I don't recall it. You need to give out some positive reinforcement along with your negative.

Dear Inkpen,
STFU. She's helping a poor little critter (or ten). That's enough.
Thank you,
Socki
