With 2020 looming, I really don't think House Dems have the nads to try and impeach our President. #1, they know it won't get conviction in the Senate, so it's a wasted effort. #2, there are a number of House Democrats in states that went for Trump - do they really want to hose their re-election chances?

I think Dems will just talk about it, rouse their rabble, and then redirect them to some new outrage.

On the other hand, I hope they really do impeach Trump so I can watch prog heads explode when he's not immediately removed from office.

"But...impeached...President Hillary...right...?"

Just as I want the really idiotic Dems to KEEP SPEWING their nonsense - I would welcome impeachment.

Because he won't be removed from office and the Dems apparently have not learned the lesson from twenty years ago -
The voters went with the Democrats, because they had had enough of the whole impeachment crap.

Heck, there are clearly way too many who believe impeachment IS removal from office.

They first filed impeachment against him for this in 2017 (I think "first", but I may be wrong, someone may have filed earlier)

H. RES. 438

Impeaching Donald John Trump, President of the United States, for high crimes and misdemeanors.

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

July 12, 2017

Mr. Sherman (for himself and Mr. Al Green of Texas) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary

RESOLUTION

Impeaching Donald John Trump, President of the United States, for high crimes and misdemeanors.

Resolved, That Donald John Trump, President of the United States, is impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors and that the following article of impeachment be exhibited to the United States Senate:

Article of impeachment exhibited by the House of Representatives of the United States of America in the name of itself and of the people of the United States of America, against Donald John Trump, President of the United States of America, in maintenance and support of its impeachment against him for high crimes and misdemeanors.

ARTICLE I

In his conduct while President of the United States, Donald John Trump, in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, has prevented, obstructed and impeded the administration of justice during a Federal investigation in that:

Knowing that Federal law enforcement authorities were investigating possible criminal law violations of his former National Security Advisor, General Michael Flynn and knowing that Federal law enforcement authorities were conducting one or more investigations into Russian state interference in the 2016 campaign for President of the United States, and that such investigation(s) included the conduct of his campaign personnel and associates acting on behalf of the campaign, to include the possible collusion by those individuals with the Russian government, Donald John Trump sought to use his authority to hinder and cause the termination of such investigation(s) including through threatening, and then terminating, James Comey, who was until such termination the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The pattern of behavior leading to the conclusion that he sought to cause the hindrance or termination of said investigation(s) include the following:

(1) Requesting that the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation curtail the investigation of the activities of General Michael Flynn under circumstances wherein it appeared that Director Comey might be terminated if he failed to adhere to such request.

(2) Making a determination to terminate the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and only thereafter requesting that the Deputy Attorney General provide him with a memorandum detailing inadequacies in the Director’s performance of his duties.

(3) Despite offering differing rationales for the termination of the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, admitted subsequently that the main reason for the termination was that the Director would not close or alter the investigation of matters related to the involvement of Russia in the 2016 campaign for President of the United States.

(4) Stated that, once he had terminated the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the pressure of said investigation had been significantly reduced.

In all of this, Donald John Trump has acted in a manner contrary to his trust as President and subversive of constitutional government, to the great prejudice of the cause of law and justice and to the manifest injury of the people of the United States.

Wherefore, Donald John Trump, by such conduct, warrants impeachment and trial, and removal from office.

The ones pushing for this are mostly way left of the dem leadership. I hope they do try to impeach because I believe it will benefit Trump by getting the dems split. I don't think they will though because the far left TDS dems may not have as much support as they think they do when push comes to shove.

the Dems apparently have not learned the lesson from twenty years ago -

A number of them were out behind the middle school getting stoned and have no memory of the Clinton impeachment, just like I was pretty busy during the Iran hostage crisis. And I don't think they make up for it with history education later, just judging by what some of them say in public.

The unwashed masses (aka "voters") are even worse. I had an exchange with a little gal (daughter of a friend, so someone I know) on FB the other day who assured me that impeachment means automatic removal and everybody gets to vote again. I said, no, and explained how it works. She said I was wrong. So I posted a couple of links, and she said they were wrong too.

This person is in her early 30s.

And one of these days I'm going to learn to not engage with these nutters.

To me that is a classic example of how our education system is screwed up. They are all worried about STEM, sciences, maths, college degrees, etc. They are no longer teaching history and government as much or don't focus on it. If they had, the 20-30ish old will be a little more educated on how our democracy works. But then again, I am wondering if our elected officials even know anymore.

The MSM and the politicians still don't get it. Middle America and the working class is sick and tired of the same old thing over and over again (although they still keep electing the same people). This is not a race war or even a class warfare situation, the underlying American with traditional values have finally started voicing their concerns with their vote of how our country should be run.

I want them to try an impeach him. I truly believe it will be the death sentence for any democratic candidate in 2020 including good ole Uncle Joe.

I guess the residual pain of impeaching Clinton still stings, it should.

The House will not impeach Trump.

It only stings Democrats and is one of the reasons they want to impeach Trump.
Clinton should have been removed from office, but Senator Byrd saved his ass.

The Democrats have been wanting to impeach a republican ever since. Trying to get even.
That's about what it is all about, nothing else.

And yet they didn't go after Bush. The blathered about it, but never actually pulled the trigger.

That's because Bush was one of them. Trump is not, and he is threatening to expose their corrupt dealings. THAT is why they've gone after him full court press.
