Now that makes me think of all the cocaine smuggler with their homemade submarines dumping their cargo when the Coast Guard appears.

Cocaine Shark anybody?

I received my first one via email back in November, right after I had paid my real bill. I've also received a text one for Massachusetts. I haven't been there in several years. Not today Satan!
As stated here by others, these seem to appear after going somewhere and having used the EZ pass.
I am no investigator, but doesn't that lead one to believe that either it is someone affiliated with EZ pass or someone that has hacked their site/
Why hasn't something been done about it.

The real website has(d) a huge banner at the top of the saying they were fake phishing texts/emails. My guess is the bad guys got phone numbers and email addresses. My number has been used in scams before. I just tell the caller they have a wrong number. I've had it for 30+ years and won't change it now.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone has a scanner/reader and sits on the side of the road near a toll. Doesn't even have to be a toll transponder, just have to get your license plate, assumption being you have an EasyPass, then send out a bogus email/text.

I got an actual phone call asking me about my bill - from Massachusetts.

I haven't set foot in Massachusetts in 35 years.

Don't worry all, the tolls will be removed once the bridge/road is paid for!

Rt 95 in some states up north has some toll collectors earning $200k a year!

My wife received the same text this morning. She forwarded it to me afraid that is was real. I assured her it was fake, unless she had received a ticket that she didn’t tell me about…
