In the Market for a Lawn Tractor

I'm looking to purchase a used lawn tractor and came across this one online:

1975 200 (C200D 032089M) with 38" mower deck. I bought the tractor from a repair shop. It was missing a side panel, grill, hood, and battery. All of which it now has and is running. I cleaned it up and shaprened the blades. $300 OBO. The hood on it is from a 210, but it is a 200.

What type of questions should I be asking, what do I need to look for when looking at one? TIA :flowers:

Last time I helped a chick with her lawn tractor needs it was a complete mess and I have never heard the end of it. Sorry, you are on your own.

So then I'm thinking when I get one you won't show me how to do standard maintenance on it either :ohwell:

Standard maintenance in my language "Hello, Guy Bros? Can you send (namewithheld) to pick up the mower? Thanks."

Well IF I were to give her advise I would say to be sure the mower deck bearings/bushings were not worn out, that it starts up easily and doesn't smoke, everything works smoothly, and the tires and belts are not cracked or shows signs of dry rot.

For $300 you really can't beat it........IF..I were going to say anything about it.

See if he'd let you take it to Carrolls for them to look at it for you..

But I agree, for $300 bucks I don't think you can beat it.

I didn't think I could drive it to Jiffy Lube for an oil change, so figure I better learn me how to do it myself and change belts too.

Granted I don't know where you live, but Carroll's does house calls. They will come and pick it up, do the service and return it to your house.

The service is free for us, but we only live .75 mile from them.

Hmmm, I'm in Hollywood so I don't. Besides I'm a hands on type of chick. Nothing like having the feeling of maintaining my sexy tractor.

Hey, how do you think it will look painted pink with black leopard spots?

I say leave it green and you wear a pink leopard print teddy on it. That will be really sexy.

Or you could be like aps and strap a pink leopard teddy on the back of it to keep you company... :high5:
